Smoke to choke

Hi, I am Samhita Das and I am from Gems Modern Academy, Dubai. I am in Grade 6 and this is my first ever blog. This blog is about the usage of cigarettes. I want to spread awareness about the negative impact smoking has on you and your surroundings. Smoking causes lung diseases and lung cancer and is extremely bad for your health. Even if you don’t mind risking your life, think about your family. How will they feel? You might say ‘Hush! It is my life’, but at least think about the people around you. If they breathe the bad air from the cigarettes, they might get lung cancer or lung diseases. Many people think it is very cool and many teenagers smoke to show that they’re cool. But it is not cool.  Research states that smokers die ten years earlier than non-smokers. Do you want to risk your life? Many people smoke to keep themselves warm during the winter, but that isn’t the right way of doing it. The right way to do it is to wear mittens or gloves, a sweater and earmuffs. It is better to stay cold than to risk your life.

Some of you might be saying that smoking lowers the risk of Parkinson's disease, but it is not proved yet. So, it is better to be safe than sorry. Most people smoke when they’re sad or for relieving stress. Actually, cigarettes do the opposite. When you smoke, you feel stressed. When you smoke you feel tired and less energetic. If you are pregnant and if you smoke it is even worse. Your baby gets affected too and may even die. If you’re a model or an actor and want to look young all the time, then stop smoking right away because smoking makes you look older. It makes your face look wrinkled and your lips start swelling up. Does your breath stink? That’s because you are smoking. Smoking causes bad breath. Cigarettes can catch fire and sometimes are the causes of bush fires or the burning of buildings. Now, do you see the negative impacts smoking has on you and your surroundings? Next time you’re about to smoke, stop and think. Hope you enjoyed reading my blog. I hope all of you who smoke, this will be your last cigarette, while reading this blog. :)
